CORONA VIRUS INFORMATION

By bernard / 8 June 2020 20 May 2021

Thank you very much for looking at our website. We are now open again.

Cleanliness has always been our priority, but we are taking extra precautions at the moment for your safety and that of our staff.

We will greet you wearing a mask and ask that you kindly bring and wear a mask yourself in the public areas of the house, hall, staircase and corridors, and keep a distance of minimum one meter from any other guests. There will be hand sanitizing gel at your disposition at various strategic points around the house, and door handles, key pads, light switches, bannisters and so on will be regularly disinfected.

With regret, we will keep conversation to a minimum in order to reduce face to face contact, but you will find explanations of things to see and do in the area on our website, and we will always be happy to advise you over the telephone if you need any suggestions.

Our rooms will be rather more minimalistic than usual as we will remove things which can’t be washed each time like the pretty bedcovers and cushions, also wicker waste-paper-baskets, padded hangers, knickknacks, books, magazines and so on. If you do take out a book from the corridor bookshelves, we would ask that you leave it in the bedroom afterwards so we can disinfect it before putting it back.

We will be wearing gloves to clean the rooms and using certified products and/or a steam cleaner to clean and disinfect the surfaces and textiles.

We would ask that on departure guests be kind enough to open the windows in order to air the room! Departure time this year will be 11.00 (10.00 for apartments) and arrival time between 17.00 – 20.00 (18.00 – 20.00 for apartments) to give us time to air and disinfect the rooms.

For a stay of more than one night, we think that it is best that we do not clean the room each day, so no one apart from yourself will go into your room during your stay. If you are staying in one of our rooms (not in a flat) , a breakfast tray will be served at your own individual table in the garden (bread, croissants, local apple juice and homemade jams, tea, coffee or hot chocolate) in place of our usual help-yourself buffet at a communal table.

  • Clean sheets and towels will of course be available on request

  • Château d’Esparron is neither a palazzo nor a luxury hotel: simply put, it’s a beautiful and authentic Provençal castle, home to its original family and full of its original furniture.
Amongst other things, there are no televisions or minibars in the rooms, although there is a communal fridge at your disposal. The rooms are en-suite, equipped with bathtubs but not stand-up showers. There is no air conditioning in the room, but as long as you keep your windows closed during the daytime and open them at night, the meter-thick medieval stonewalls will keep the room at a very agreeable temperature. A contumacious Wi-Fi network is one of the few hints of the modern world. You will get the chance to admire and ascend the monumental stone spiral staircase, but, without the help of a lift, getting to your room is a fitness challenge in itself. Each room looks out onto the same bucolic view of the countryside (not the lake).
It is a mistake to think that the countryside is silent at night. Nocturnal noises simply emanate from different sources than in the city. For instance, the church bell tolls throughout the night and you might be awoken by the occasional whistle of an owl. The yellow and pearl rooms are closest to one of the village fountains, and you will be able to hear the gentle sound of running water from the bedroom unless you opt for another room.
Furthermore, although the castle is fairly close to the gorges du Verdon canyon, it still is 50 minutes away by car, but the road there crosses the Valensole plateau and we can assure you that it is absolutely stunning. Finally, we regret to say that we do not allow pets in the house. That doesn’t mean that you need to leave yours at home, as you can always let yours sleep in the car or intrust it to one of our neighbors who provides a dog sitting service (06 71 54 26 42).
If you aren’t put off by the above, we will do our best to ensure that you have an unforgettable stay with us.
